Things To See And Do On Curacao Island

| February 1, 2012

Curacao island is one of the most picturesque Caribbean islands. It has beautiful beaches, lots of things to see and do, great food, good surf and great diving. The island’s residents came from different parts of the world and you can see the mix in the local culture and in the cuisine. There are carnivals and festivals and the general atmosphere on Curacao island is more local than on the more touristy Caribbean islands.

There are at least 35 beaches on the island and they are known for the beautiful combination of white sand and the rocky cliffs. Curacao island is known as a diving paradise and it attracts divers from around the world. There are over 60 diving sites with coral gardens, wrecks and shore dives. The visibility is great around the year. Even if you are not a diver you can enjoy good snorkeling.

If you get bored with sunbathing and swimming, there is history and culture in Curacao too. You can explore historical architecture and enjoy cultural activities in the capital Willemstad. If you are visiting Curacao island in January and February, you can also take part in the long carnival season that lasts several weeks.
